High risk for all 3 syndromes

Hi everyone, I had my cvs test today and I guess i’m just posting this to see if anyone else has experienced the same -

Scan measurements came back normal, but Pap-a was extremely low (0.2) and HGC low too (0.47).

I came back with odds of:

Downs: 1/53
Edwards: 1/71
Patau: 1/71

has anyone else been through this? I’m terrified of getting bad news

I didn’t do exactly the same tests as my kids are now early teens, but when I was pregnant with my son 15 years ago, my tests came back as “at best” 1:2 and i was told a high probability of one of those three syndromes.

It was a very worrying time but my son was eventually born (very big and very late) with the standard set of chromosomes.
i don’t want to raise your expectations unnecessarily, but did want to share my outcome in case it gives you something to focus on.

I know this will be a very worrying time for you, so my thoughts (and prayers if you want them) are with you.

Recommend you get in touch with ARC. They are very supportive and will have lots of information, which I found really helpful

Have you been offered further testing? I have a ten year old with Down’s Syndrome and my odds were 1 in 3 for DS only so not quite the same I know. Very happy to chat anyway.

Are you planning to have an amnio OP? Then you'll get a definite yes or no answer rather than a risk percentage.

I was more than 1 in 2 for all 3 syndromes (tested earlier this year) and my baby has none of them. The combined screening really can be very inaccurate

@Betadeltayep the cvs is fluid from the placenta and is definitive 🙏

I thought a definite test result would be able to give you the clear yes or no rather than still giving you risk percentages?

@cobalt123it does - the percentages (e.g 1/53) are from the bloods that most people get at the 12 week scan, then the definitive cvs test was done yesterday with results pending

oh I see. Thank you for clarifying. Sorry I don’t have anything helpful to add as I’m not having my 12 week scan until next week. Fingers crossed for you for a good result from the amnio 🤞
