Sorry in advance for TMI, but I've tried to post this at a time when, nocturnal heartburn being what it is, most of you probably won't be eating.
Why do all of the pregnancy books fail to mention the fact that after a certain point the 'downstairs department' becomes out of sight if not in possession of a full set of mirrors.
Having never experienced the joys of waxing ( the closest I've got to a brazilian was a nut at Christmas) I've spent the last half hour waddling around covered in Immac - and believe me - the fact that it ended up on target was more by luck than judgement.
So, how have the rest of you managed? Or have you all gone 'au naturel' until after delivery.
Is waxing advisable in late pregnancy or should I just have got my act together sooner?
Next stop, my Hobbit-like feet
Do you think this is one for the home page?

As far as the birth goes, I asked a friend who is a midwife, and she said the majority of women come in au naturel.
And that they don't really care, because they're more interested in the baby that's coming out...

Still... think I am gonna get dp to neaten me up a bit in the next couple of days!
Did attempt to shave down there a while ago but it ended up all stubbly and horrible and then got loads of ingrown hairs and it was really not very nice!

I had dd au naturel too.It wasn't by choice though.I'd had a bath the night I went into labour, but didn't bother doing any 'tidying',thinking that if I did go into labour later on,I'd have plenty of time to do it while I was at home, waiting to go in to hospital.

Wrong.Everything happened so quickly that I ended up giving birth with unshaven legs and all.I have a vivid memory of apologising to the midwife about it,but telling her that I had shaved my armpits.

Oh the shame-hopefully this time I'll be better organised.

lol at the thought of apologising to the midwife for hairy legs, while you are probably pooing on her table....

I shave ALL my ... secret lady's hair, and felt slightly embarassed giving birth all shaved like a turkey in case they thought I was under the impression that shaving was necessary or something.... Next time I will stick to a nice polite triangle instead.

You are probably as large as I was, and although it bothered me I was pretty natural, till 2 weeks before the end, when I use dh's beard trimmer, (much sharper than my hair clippers!!) and did the best I could in front of the mirror.

It was such a treat when I could see my feet again!

I went for a bikini wax at the end of my second pregnancy and it didn't even occur to me to be embarrassed. You're PAYING them to do it for you!

I got as much off as possible without it being a brazilian, and was v glad as I had a c-section both times. The first time I was shaved with a gross bic razor and had itchy regrowth for weeks. The second time at least I was nice and smooth and it didn't itch when it grew back!

LOL morningpaper - congratulations by the way - was noseying on the new pg thread!

I managed to keep my legs shaved and toe nails painted. It was quite surreal as the midwife was saying 'Oooh, I really look the colour of your nailpolish' and 'you've done it really neatly' as my legs were up in stirrups and she was stitching me up - I wasn't feeling at my most glamourous I have to say!!!

I was au naturel when I had DD. I couldn't reach and I couldn't be arsed to try!

shalaa · 31/01/2005 14:00

Well I squatted in the bath with a mirror and attempted to shave my bits, now I have horrid razor burn and the whole area is uneven! Have brought a pack of immac cream to use, can't believe im a few weeks away from my due date and i'm worried about the state of my pubic hair!!
