Has anyone out there tried eg shettles method to try and sway the odds in order to conceive a boy or a girl? Were u successful or is it all down to pot luck?

Shettles method does at least have some scientific background (unlike some other methods) - it's worth a try if you want to sway things but not 100% reliable plus it will take longer to conceive as you will have to restrict the days you try.

It is easier to work backwards (not much help on the planning front). If you know when in your cycle you conceived and when you OV'd you can take a good guess on what sex you will have using shettles theory.

DS was conceived 3 days after OV, DDs 3 days before - we weren't using shettles but going on the comments we recieved when I was pregnant with DC3 you'd have thought we ought to have been...I quote..'oh lets hope you have a boy this time eh?'

I don't think they're scientific at all - there's another theory that advises completely the opposite of Shettles.
To generalise horribly from my own experience, I should have three boys. But I've got ds, dd and am expecting a girl.
I think it's probably 50-50 whatever you do...
But then, you'll probably have dozens of people telling you how it worked for them. I suppose there's no harm trying it, but I worried that it would feel like formalising my rather shameful desire for a daughter (after my son), and made me worry that by investing in it I'd be shortchanging the son I may well have had. If that makes sense.

There is? Not heard of that one.

i used shettles to sway the odds with my 2 you see, and it worked for me. Or maybe i was just lucky. Have a friend who has a preference and was just wondering what other peoples experience was
