Conceiving after stopping Sayana Press with no periods for years

Hi,

I’ve been on the Sayana press injection for around 4/5 years. I last took my injection 7th Feb. Me and my partner have decided we want to conceive, but I’ve had no bleeding or periods or anything for years. I was just wondering if people had trouble or conceived the year as stopping or any information would be great

It can take up to 18 months for fertility to return in some women. I always warn my new Depo or Sayana starters of this if they are planning to TTC within the next 2-3 years. It’s not the case for every woman, of course, but it can take quite a long time for it to wear off. Not having any breakthrough bleeding on Sayana shouldn’t make any difference to how long it takes for your fertility to return as any bleeding you do or don’t have on the method is random and just depends on how lucky you are with it!

Would this be the same for a one off dose?

I was on depo provera for a few years, it took over a year from the last injection for my period to return. I did get pregnant quickly when my period came back.

I'd also like to know if a one of dose has the same effect on fertility?

Also, as Sayana is 104mg and Depo is 150mg, does fertility return quicker if taking Sayana?
