I had been experiencing increased mucus like discharge last week. Monday I also noticed clear watery liquid and was experiencing some contractions so went to triage. They swabbed me and PPROM was negative but Actim Partus was positive. Later Tuesday morning and internal scan showed my cervix to be long and closed and nothing had progressed so was discharged.
Thursday I had a consultant appointment mentioned I was continuing to have mucus discharge and continued to have so tightenings and cramping but nothing consistent. He sent me straight to triage and the they tested my water again. On visual inspection Dr said there was no fluid in the vagina so was not concerned but I then got a positive PPROM though the line was faint. I was admitted again and given antibiotics.
Had a second ultrasound on the Friday where I actually showed to have extra fluid and cervix still long and closed. Later Friday my swab from Monday comes back as positive for GBS! So now because of the possible PPROM (even though I've had no further leaking) and positive GBS they are monitoring closely for 2 weeks and I am continuing a course of antibiotics at home. They have recommended a C-section at 34 weeks.
I'm very confused as labour hasn't established and no more fluids other than mucus and now GBS positive. I'm trying to way up the risks and obviously having baby preterm even at 34 weeks has risks and possible NICU treatment for baby.
I guess I'd feel more confident if there were more evidence I'd actually ruptured.
Anyone experienced the same or recommend best course of action?
