24/7 nausea - 7 weeks

I need help! I know morning sickness (hopefully) won't last the whole pregnancy but if anyone has any advice on how to tackle it now.

Im not vomiting ( would possibly feel better if I was ) I feel sick 24/7 and I'm not exaggerating, from the second I wake up to the second I try and asleep and anytime I wake in the night. The thought of food is 'bleurgh' but the sickness only subsides when I'm eating, I'm eating crackers, bland food, carbs, protein, cut out caffeine , nothing spicy or fatty, crackers next to the bed to eat first thing, it feels like a constant hangover and it's totally debilitating, the fatigue isn't any better but I can live with that. But I have a 4 year old and a job too so it's not like I can just 'sleep it off' till 12 weeks.

is it worth asking the midwife for help (even though I'm not vomiting )

does anyone have any similar stories and it went away at some point

I am 7 weeks and have felt this way for about a week now

thank you in advance ❤️

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Definitely ask for help, and specifically for antinausea drugs, read up on them first and also look at b vitamins. I found the wristbands with little buttons on seemed to slightly help .

I felt nauseous 24/7 for around 10 weeks. I’m 15 weeks now and it’s totally gone. My midwife said it’s actually worse not vomiting as you do t get a break from feeling sick. Eating plain crackers constantly was the only thing that helped me. I hope yours goes away soon!

Thank you guys!

I’m in the thick of it also currently 8+2 and have had almost constant nausea from week 5. I don’t remember being just as bad last time round however it did resolve so hoping for the same this time.
I find no food any better or worse really. I’m just trying to eat through it. I sometimes get an hour or 2 where it eases. During that time I try to eat a somewhat balanced meal. Some days I can’t even stomach the vitamins!

ugh the all-day kind is so much rougher than people give it credit for, im sorry youre stuck in it. the thing that saved me during my worst stretch was eating something the second i woke up, i kept crackers right on the nightstand and had one before i even sat up. cold stuff went down way easier than warm for me too, frozen grapes and popsicles were basically my whole diet for a couple weeks lol. mine started easing off around 9 weeks so hopefully youre close to the other side 🤍

Plutoplutopluto · 21/07/2026 12:44

Mine gradually got better around 13 weeks and altogether by 20 weeks. Mine was like yours, no vomiting but 24 /7 nausea from the second I opened my eyes! I got signed off for 6 weeks from work. I carried snacks around with me in my pocket nibbling away at crisps constantly like a hamster 😂. Salty food really helped, sparkling water weirdly enough and mint imperials!

Oh my, I was exactly the same a year ago when I was pregnant! I think I even wrote a post. Mine started from approx 6 weeks - 13 weeks where it eased off! It’s really really tough, the only thing I can say helped (which isn’t helpful) is eating lots of carbs. Bread. Ginger biscuits. I actually gained so much weight in the first trimester because I felt so sick. I also never vomited which would’ve made me feel better, I think. I also felt so sick at the smell of laundry detergent

i think you can get medication, personally I never did just because I didn’t want to but from what I’ve read there is perfectly safe medication.

hang in there - it’s worth it! I now have a 4 month old and the sickness is a distant memory

Same, and it was twins! I got an early scan because I was suspicious.
It passed by 13 weeks luckily.

Emilychen · 21/07/2026 13:50

Twins, no wonder the nausea was coming for you that hard! So glad it eased up by 13 weeks, that light at the end of the first trimester is everything. How are you feeling now that you are through the worst of it?

TooHotToBoogie · 21/07/2026 13:54

Smelling hand gel with alcohol relieves sickness

Just tired these days!
I too had to try and snack to ward off the nausea but did also get cyclizine from the GP for when it got too bad. I only needed it a handful of times but it really helped.

fluffyprawn · 21/07/2026 16:59

I had nausea 24/7 from about 6 weeks to about 32 weeks. Xonvea helped. Worth asking for !

fluffyprawn · 21/07/2026 17:00

Oh also chewing very strong flavoured gum helped when on public transport, meetings etc when I really needed to avoid throwing up.

Emilychen · 21/07/2026 17:12

Tired is honestly a win compared to the all day sick phase, I'll take it. Smart keeping the cyclizine in your back pocket for the really rough days too. The constant snacking to stay ahead of the nausea was basically my whole survival plan as well, so glad you're through the worst of it.

RosieJay30 · 23/07/2026 14:16

Thanks for all the replies guys, nice got some anti sickness medication from my GP, not gonna lie, not actually making much difference yet, been about 3 days. I have an early reassurance scan this evening, to make sure everything's ok and check there is only one. Still crossing fingers that this doesn't last too much into the second trimester haha!

I don’t want to discourage you, but if cyclizine isn’t helping, go back to your GP - the last time I was pregnant (admittedly more than two decades ago!) cyclizine was the first thing they tried but there were other safe options for when it didn’t work. (I had hyperemesis and I’m afraid it lasted until I was about 34 weeks.) Good luck - it really is awful, you’re not making a fuss!

RobertJohnsonsShoes · 23/07/2026 14:27

I had hyperemisis and I was vomiting from 5 weeks and it didn’t ease. Even If you’re not throwing up, it’s worth talking to the midwife as if you’re not eating much that will have an impact on your health. You poor thing, I hope it eases soon or they can consider something like ondansetrone (sp?) xx

LP2023 · 31/07/2026 13:06

Hope everyone is doing ok. Thankfully my nausea has eased up a lot after 9 weeks so just to give others a little hope that are still in the thick of it.
