Seven-week scan measuring behind with no heartbeat, any positive outcomes?

I went for a scan at 7 weeks and the fetal pole was measuring at 2.7mm with no fetal heartbeat. It seems to point to gestational age of 5weeks 5-6 days. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone with a positive outcome. I also noticed in the scan picture the yolk sac seems to look huge which wasn't great news when I googled. Has anyone had a scan that looked like this?

Did they do an internal scan or just external? If you are under 6 weeks it'll be too early to see much more.

It depends if you are definitely sure of your dates. If you are definitely 7 weeks then honestly it doesn’t sound like good news. If there’s a chance you could actually be more like 5-6 weeks then it could just be too early. How sure are you of your dates? Did you track ovulation? When did you first get a positive test?

Yes, how sure are you of dates?

I had a scan at 5 weeks and there was nothing to see, barely even a sac visible as I remember but at 7 weeks there was a heartbeat.

Its internal. I think the worrying thing is that it shouldn't be under 6 weeks. It seems like perhaps it stopped growing the day it was meant to get a heartbeat.

Yeah I'm definitely 7 weeks and even got my first positive at 11dpo so pretty quickly. I was just hoping someone else may have been sure of there dates and the baby just grew a little slower.

Yeah certain of the dates. I track very closely. I think i keep holding out hope because of it was growing slower you dont find a heart beat often at 5weeks 6days

I’ve had IVF and they told me they will only scan after 7 weeks as by that point they know they’ll see a heartbeat so if they don’t they are pretty sure it isn’t viable. So I do think if you are definitely 7 weeks they really should have seen a heartbeat at that point. I went for my IVF scan at 7w3 and there was no heartbeat so my clinic sent me immediately to EPU and were very honest with me that it 99% hadn’t worked. They were right in my case. But I’m sure you will always get some circumstances where it’s been wrong. I believe it’s why EPU don’t make a decision on the first scan and they always make you wait a week or two to rescan to check.

Tbh thats why I waited till 7 weeks too so I could see a heartbeat. Hopefully I can get myself 2 scans quickly. Last time they didnt count the private scan. It took weeks to finally get the d&c. This is another missed miscarriage. Thanks for the advice.

did they mention the size of the yolk sac? I have a history of MMCs and all had enlarged yolk sac, either at a 7 week scan or 8 week scan, and none were viable unfortunately. But for a couple of them I still had to wait a week-2 weeks to scan again for confirmation. Given when you tested positive and your dates I would definitely try to get another scan as soon as you can, at your local EPU. Hopefully alls ok, but I know the waiting is horrible in between scans x

They didn't mention the size of the yolk sac but from the picture it looks massive right? Does it look like yours did? Tbh im clutching at straws hoping but I know already. This is my 2nd MMC they are so rubbish. My scan was private so now I ]]0need to book in 2 more scans with nhs probably before I can get the d&c. Thanks for your message its really helped.
