Beth and Seth?

I have a daughter called Beth and now pregnant with a boy.

We love the name Seth. What are thoughts on having 2 kids which are called Beth and Seth?

Truth be told I detest 'matching' sibling names.

However, they aren't my children to name, and if you love it that much, I would respect your decision and try my best to keep my inner distaste off my face.

No. Too easy to get muddled up. Will your DD really appreciate her younger brother having almost the same name?

Matching names is cute when they're little but it will sound ridiculous when they're older and I doubt they'll thank you for it.

I love Seth but I think you have ruled it out with Beth already. Silas has a similar vibe and would work well without rhyming. Do you like that?

In all honesty my first thought would be it sounds like you have put zero effort into your son's name.

It's very daft to have names so similar and it shows a great lack of imagination.

You do you OP. I know siblings with rhyming names. Parents loved the boys name but thought they would only ever have one child (IVF) so when it was a girl they switched it to a v similar sounding female name. Then had a boy unexpectedly and decided to continue and use the name they originally loved in regardless. Why not 🤷🏼‍♀️

Both are great names but together they sound like a children's cartoon.

Zach, Caleb, Jago, Gus, Leo are the sort of names I think of in the same vein as Beth and Seth. Any good?

There’s also practical reasons like if you shout for one of them for dinner or something when they’re older they may both appear. Just too similar.

God no. I used to work with a guy with a similar sounding name to mine, and it was infuriating how often someone would call out one of our names and we'd both look up and have to clarify who they'd actually said.
