Cervical ectropian in pregnancy

Hi, I am currently 14 weeks pregnant. A few days ago I had to go into hospital due to some dark red bleeding when wiping. Seeing this after having a miscarriage early this year, sent me into panic mode and I just thought the absolute worst. After waiting what felt like forever at the hospital, the gynaecologist did a speculum examination on me down below(which btw was the most uncomfortable thing in the world) and found that I have a cervical ectropian. I had never ever heard of this before but apparently it’s when cells from the inside spread to the outside and can be triggered by sex, exercise etc. The gynaecologist sent us for a scan just to be sure the baby was okay and thank god the baby was healthy and moving around and there was no bleeding showing on the inside of the womb. My bleeding has completely stopped now which is reassuring but I have been told to refrain from having sex or doing any exercise for the next couple of weeks. I have done my research about this and I haven’t seen many people talk about their experiences so if anyone has had a cervical ectropian during pregnancy, I would be grateful if you can share your experience and let me know if baby ended up being healthy🫶🏼

Hi, I had this in both my pregnancies. It meant from time to time I had some light bleeding. I always still got it checked out but every time it was nothing to worry about.
Congratulations on your pregnancy and best of luck!

I had this, I think I started bleeding roughly the time and I also had a low lying placenta and so I had to get ant bleed checked - all through my second trimester I was in triage because they had to check it was ectropian or if it was the placenta.

As soon as I got to the third trimester it just stopped bleeding and I’m going to be 35 weeks tomorrow and I’ve not bled since! Baby girl is all good 😊

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and try not to worry about it! Xx

I had it with my first. I had spotting/pink discharge every day from 7-10 weeks. Baby is fine x

I had this with DD. I had a fair amount of bleeding at 20-ish weeks (which was a one-off). Everything worked out just fine though (she turned 13 last month).
