I'm wanting to see how many first time mums out there are expecting and have severe anxiety through it? I found out 2 weeks ago and ever since my anxiety has been through the roof. I suffer with anxiety disorder anyway and on medication for this but I do genuinely feel like my anxiety is getting worse... I feel slightly alone in this and want some reassurance it'll all be ok

Yes me! I'm 9w4d pregnant with twins and had crippling fear that I'm going to lose one or both of them. It's an IVF pregnancy, our 7th round and first time we've had success. I believe I have IVF trauma and my brain is now wired to expect something to go wrong.

What I've done to cope - I had a scan at 6 weeks, that gave me about a week's worth of reassurance. I then had another scan at 8 weeks, which again reassured me for about a week until the anxiety kicked in again. So I would recommend having a scan, that will give you factual information that you can refer to when the anxiety kicks in.

Part of the anxiety is chemical due to rapidly rising hormones, which will continue rising until end of first trimester. Try to think of exciting, positive things, like baby names, clothes or other purchases you can look forward to buying.

First trimester is generally the worst for anxiety, hormones are sky high, you feel crap and there's no bump. Hang on in there, it will get better 🩷

Not a first time mum but have been suffering badly with anxiety, it’s horrible. I’m 15+5 now and had weekly scans on nhs up to 12 weeks due to previous recurring losses. That helped I think as I could see baby was growing, but now not had any since my 12 week scan which has been torture! Have one booked for 16+1, 3 days! (Not that I’m counting!!)

I have no idea about hormones or how they effect the body if I'm honest, I just think I'm crippled with this anxiety till the very end and it's hurting me a lot, the upset ness I feel is genuinely hard... I do feel like a mess but I keep reminding myself I'm pregnant and I'm fine
