Friend just found out she is pregnant. She has PCOS so no idea When she conceived because she has very few cycles. She is awaiting a scan but Going by the strength of tests and how long she has had different symptoms she thinks she could be around eight or nine weeks already. Her biggest concern is only just starting to take folate etc. Anyone else been in this position?

honestly this is such a common worry, so many pregnancies are a surprise and people don't start folate til 8 or 9 weeks and everything turns out completely fine. i'm an american who moved here mid-pregnancy and was late sorting my prenatals too, panicked about it for days. once she gets her scan and a proper due date i think she'll feel so much calmer, the not-knowing is the hardest bit x

Omg I’m in exactly the same position! Suspected anything from 5-13 weeks pregnant and only been taking vitamins since found out Monday

Oh we really are in the same boat, I didn't get my act together on prenatals til a fair bit in either and spiraled about it way too long. From everything I've read the folate that matters most is the early neural tube stuff, and loads of people start late and are totally fine. Once you've got a scan to reassure you it gets so much easier, hang in there.
