Hi all,

I found out I was pregnant on the 9th of June and my last period was the 14th of May. On the 10th of June my clear blue said 1-2 weeks, on the 14th of June it said 2-3 weeks, and on the 20th, I was 3+ weeks according to clear blue.

I went for a scan 2 weeks ago due to light bleeding and they told me there was no visible baby however everything is in the right place and looks good. At this point, I felt like I was 5 weeks and 5 days going off my last period. And the sonographer also said she agreed with my dating. She asked me to come back in 2 weeks time for another scan.

Yesterday was the next scan, there was a visible baby and a yolk sac, and they also found a flickering heartbeat. They said everything looks perfect, it’s all in the right place etc and they seemed really happy. However, she has worked it out that I’m 6 weeks and 3 days and I’m measuring at 6.9mm.

How can that be possible if my clear blue said I was 3+ weeks on the 20th of June? Don’t you usually add two weeks on to a digital test? So surely this week I’d be 8 weeks today?

I really don’t understand and I’m worried sick incase my baby isn’t growing. It’s clearly grown on the scan as at first there was no visible baby and now there is, but how can my dates be so wrong?

I last had sex on the 28th and 30th of May and then the 2nd of June. So would I have tested 1-2 weeks on a clear blue on the 10th that soon? I don’t understand I’m so confused as to why going off my period I should be 8 weeks but I’m only 6 weeks and 3 days.

Sorry if this is confusing but I don’t know what to do or if I’m over thinking. Thanks xxx

Try not to panic. You probably ovulated later than you realised. The scan is much more accurate for dating than when your last period was, because ovulation can vary a lot. The clear blue tests aren’t measured to indicate past 3 weeks and aren’t great at tracking progress. You’ve had growth between two scans, there’s a heartbeat and the sonographer is happy. That’s what matters xx

If you take your first pregnancy test date at the earliest possible you could have got a positive (7dpo) then from that you are dating 7w2 today. So you are measuring a bit behind yes as most people don’t get a positive that early. But the fact you saw a heartbeat is a plus. I’d stay optimistic but maybe very slightly cautious as well only because you are measuring a good week to two weeks out.
