The sonographer got a very clear shot today at 12 week scan. I know it's early (and I don't mind what gender either way) but she said she knew the gender of the baby from this picture.

Any guesses as to the gender please? ❤️❤️❤️

I've no idea the sex of the baby as I'm not skilled like the sonographer is, nor am I familiar with scan pictures as some Mum's might be on here.

I'm just an excited Mum just looking for any guidance that people have had from previous scans please ❤️❤️❤️

MammaFit.. just ignore the 2 posts that are being mean. Potty shot has become an acceptable term.. meaning a shot taken as if looking up from inside the potty.. and whilst we know we are talking about sex (XX or XY) we all know what posters mean when they say gender! There's a Pendants Corner topic if people want to be pedantic .

As far as I understood the baby’s genitals don’t develop until week 14. So it’s very unlikely that anyone, even a sonographer, could tell you the sex of your baby from a 12-week scan.

Unless you’re talking about nub theory which is incredibly unreliable.

Based on the pic and yes they call it a 'potty shot' I'd say you have a little girl there. Congratulations !

Red is thigh bones..
Blue is the bottom
And pink or green is the genitals. Boys generally have a sticky out bit (the penis) and girls look 😉 more like a hamburger..(the labia)
But it's not always accurate as a poster up thread said.

In ops defense she didn't exactly come up with that terminology it's commonly used so you're being a knob.

Red is your babies legs, blue is their back/bottom and pink is their genitals.

I didn't think potty shots were accurate that early. I'd be trying to use nub theory if you've got any other photos from the scan as the nub is only just recognisable at 12 weeks but it's usually from a side angle that you can see it.

I wouldn't assume it's a girl even though there's no boy parts showing yet.
