Browny pink discharge at six weeks, feeling anxious before scan

In six weeks pregnant and had some browny pink discharge. Just a little bit but for two days now. I have a scan booked next Wednesday as I’ve had two miscarriages in the past and I’m 41 so feeling this is bad news. I’ve also just done a clear blue dates test and it said 2-3 weeks but I think I should be 3 weeks now. Has anyone had a small bit of discharge then had a successful pregnancy. So anxious feel like I’m going to get bad news at the scan. Six days feels like forever to wait.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Have you contacted early maternity triage unit to see what they advise still?

My friend had multiple bleeds with both pregnancies and she has just given birth to her 2nd child, a healthy little girl :)

I’m sorry about your past losses ❤️‍🩹

I was having brown and pink discharge from 5+5. Had an enormous bleed (like a water balloon burst) and passed a huge clot the evening after my first scan at 7 weeks and thought everything was over. It turns out it was old blood (a haematoma) the scan had just encourage it to move. I had another scan today at 8 weeks and everything is on track

This is an IVF pregnancy. I’ve bled a lot more this time than during the pregnancy I lost but everything seems to be going to plan so far 🤞

They say to get any bleeding checked out but from what I understand brown and pink discharge is ok, it’s bright red blood that is alarming (although I should add some of mine was bright red too). If there’s pain too they are more concerned. You might want to ask your GP or the EPU about progesterone support too. If you’ve had a prior loss and current bleeding you can be prescribed progesterone

It can be old blood from a polyp or similar. Don’t panic. But it’s ok to ring them and get support

I had pink discharge on three occasions early on in my last pregnancy. I was terrified. After the second occurrence I was scanned at 8 weeks and all was fine. Apparently it could be the placenta developing on cervix irritation. My four month year old Is currently on my lap.

You’re doing the right thing to get checked out and I hope the days pass quickly for you.

I'd ring EPU, given your history they may be able to see you sooner. I had light bleeding at 6 weeks and was all fine, it was a small bleed round the baby but had gone by 12 weeks scan.

Hey, I'm also 41 and pregnant after a miscarriage so totally get your stress. I've bled in every one of my pregnancies, this time I had exactly as you describe at 6 weeks and all is currently ok at 12 weeks.

As you've had a previous loss and spotting in your current pregnancy you should be eligible for progesterone, assuming your scan is at EPU and not a private scan?

Sending a hug, pregnancy after loss is so hard xx

Ps I've also never got 3 weeks on a CB digital and I have a 2-year-old, those tests are awful for causing stress x
