i think it all depends on the midwife, where you live and things like that. My midwife is doing one on monday which is my due date.. however I know a few places won't do it until you are a week overdue and some places do it at 38/39 weeks if your cervix is favourable. How far gone are you?

im 37 weeks, obviously im not expecting one yet, but i see mw tomorrow and want to request a sweep at my next appointment in 2-3 weeks time

My MW will only do one if my cervix is favourable. Booked in tomorrow at 40+5 which may not be successfull so I'll probably be back at the start of next week too.

My dd was suspected to be large from scans and so the consultant gave me a sweep at 37 weeks (I nearly hit the ceiling it was so painful). Then I had one at 38 weeks and when nothing happened I was induced at 39 weeks. I'm not sure if the extreme "discomfort" at 37/40 was because it was still quite early, or whether the consultant was just being "thorough" as she put it, but might be worth bearing in mind.
