Would you be happy to see midwife only 4 times with 2nd baby?

I am 8 wks pg with number 2, following em c section with ds.
I saw midwife for 1st appt last fri and now waiting for scan date. I asked her when I would next see her and she said when I was 17 wks pg. I would then have a 20wkish scan and then see her around 28wks to discuss birth options. Then probably one more time if I decide to have an elective c section. Is this weird?

I was told 'with your 2nd, you just have to go away and grow the baby!'

I rang the doctors this morning and told them that my feet were like ballons and I haven't seen a midwife since 16 weeks the doctor was quite angry that they haven't replied to my messages.
Anyway I have a doctors appointment now I might ask if I can change midwifes. With ds I registered with the midwifes near my mums (I lied and said I was staying there because I didn't want to move doctors) and they were lovley but since I have swapped doctors they are rubbish.

I saw my midwife really regularly but then I had really high BP and had to go in to have that tested anyway. I had a lovely older midwife who was still really enthusiastic I guess it does depend on the individual doesnt it...some will do the minimum they can some like mine are great.

Ohh I feel for you bogie I used to be able to dent my legs they were so puffed up....horrible.

Jennie your midwife sounds awful - fancy leaving a UTI - I had one with DS 2 it developed really fast and I genuinely thought I was going to die the pain was awful (I thought I was having a heart attack quite surprised when they told me it was an infection)

I had my booking in appointment at 8 weeks, I then had to pay for a private nuchal scan at 12 weeks as the NHS where I live no longer do them! They only offer the triple test at 16 weeks, which not only is later, but I have been told is not so good.

I was then meant to see the midwife again at 16 weeks, but she was on holiday, and there was no cover. My 20 week scan is a week late, at 21 weeks as the sonographer was on holiday and they had no cover for him/her either.

I know that it is my 2nd baby, but I am getting on at bit, at 43 years old and I thought that someone would be looking after me and my precious baby...

I do get to see the consultant next week to discuss wanting an elective C-section! Hooray!!

Minnie - that doesn't sound good! Seems that it depends on where you live to how many times and who you get to see! I wish this country would sort out it's maternity services, they really are going down the toilet.
