Called back after 12-week scan despite low-risk results, should I worry?

Hi Mums.

I had my 12 week scan on the 10th of June. She initially struggled to get measurements. She made me do a little shimmy, baby moved and she got all the measurements. She was happy with the scan.

I’ve not just had a call on Friday the 26th of June telling me that I need to come in for a scan tomorrow. I asked why and she said the sonographer just wants to check something. I’m now panicking because why am I being called in for a last minute scan when she said everything looked fine so far? I had my screening results back this week as well and they’re all low risk.

im so scared, help me. This is my first pregnancy

Op, I can totally understand your worry. I'm guessing that some of the images taken have led to further questions when shown to the team at review.
Hopefully, it's just that a particular picture is unclear and they need a better one. X

Thank you for the message. I guess I’ll just have to and find out tomorrow, I’m so scared but hoping for the best!!

I had this and had low Papp A. I had never heard of it before and was very worried. It can cause low birth weight and other issues. However, it didn’t seem to affect baby boy. I had extra growth scans after 28 weeks and had to take aspirin each day

Hi OP.
sorry to hear that this is causing you stress. Welcome to motherhood! I had a bunch of things in my pregnancies. For a while the baby was measuring small. Well, one scan they were and then next they weren’t etc etc. one time their head was small. Etc etc.
they take everything very seriously, as they should. But once you find out about the scanning equipment and how hard it is for the sonographers to get accurate measurements you realise that you have to somehow detach in between appointments and protect yourself from stressing. I was anxious a lot so im not saying it’s easy.
I wish you very well tomorrow

Of course you're scared but it's most likely nothing. They are extremely careful when it comes to babies so they'll call you in for anything and everything. Let's hope it's just unclear imaging x

That’s so reassuring, I’m so glad your baby boy is okay!!

Thank you so much!! I’ll try my best to stop thinking of the worst case scenario! I’m glad they’re very cautious tbh but it is anxiety inducing! I appreciate the reassurance!

I had this from a private clinic staffed by NHS Sonographers - transpired the scanning lady was under investigation for missing things so they offered a rescan to make sure all was OK. They also asked me what my expierence was like with her
