I have been on erythromycin for my skin for over a year. The consultant who prescribed them knew that i was TTC and said these were safe to take. I tried stopping them but my skin went awful. I am now nearly 20 weeks pregnant and I haev just telephoned my doctor for a repeat presciption and she has come back with "I shouldn't be taking them because I am pregnant".. has anyone else been on these? I am sooo worried.

it states here that it is the only antibiotic that is safe in pregnancy. am that a gp would say this and worry you.

erthromycin is totally safe in preg, your GP is wrong, I hate to say.

there are other antibiotics that are also safe in preg, but erythromycin is the only one used in acne that is safe.

don't worry! and maybe make an appointment with a GP to discuss it.

Im pregnant too, and have been taking it for acne. It is completely safe. I also took on my first pregnancy with ds1.
So don't worry

I took is after DD was born, and I was breastfeeding, it is safe, maybe your GP needs to go on a refresher course...

Oh thank you so much.. It is such a shock for her to say this when she knows I have been on it throughout TTC and the first 4 1/2 months of pregnancy. I have just had an awful nights sleep. Thank you all so much
