Love football, love a laugh but not finding it funny the current p*ssing contest phone in on Talk Sport. Lots of men ringing in to outdo each other with stories of when they weren’t there for their wives.

One man said he ‘couldn’t be doing with his MIL’ so went to the pub for a pint and a pasty. Another that he chose World Cup semi final instead, his wife even said she wasn’t ok with it.

All guffawing when caller says ‘the Missus wasn’t happy…’ etc.

AIBU to think laughing at women being let down is not funny?

Childbirth is the most vulnerable time in a woman's life. If your partner isn't going to prioritise you then, you know how he is going to be in future. Even back in the days when dad's were asleep in the waiting room at least they were there to make those life and death calls. But then a lot of men don't value their wife that much. We are naming it when we add it now.

Yeah, I wouldn't find that funny. It's a bit old fashioned to be honest, the whole "aren't I a lad, chosing football over the missus" banter.

I know some people come at it with the "it's just a joke love" mentality, and yes, it is a joke, but it's also just a bit pathetic and dated to laugh at the idea of not being there for your wife.
