well i thought i was in labour but now it has all stopped, any ideas???

Hi, I am just short of 37 weeks, yesterday i had quite a busy day as was finishing the nusery off, so went to bed at 9 as was feeling shattered and my back was hurting, i was woken up about 930 with mild contractions, which were coming approx every 5 mins starting in my back and working there way round to the front, they werent massively painful on a scale of 1(min)-10(max), i would say about a 4. anyhow they lasted a good couple of hours and then started to wear off, although had a really unsettled night, i have been uncomfortable today, but nothing major. do you think i am going to go in to labour, the reason i am not so sure is that last time i had problems from about 30 weeks, which resulted in my waters breaking at 37 and a very quick labour, sorry for the long post just not sure what to do???

Havent spoken to midwife yet, as not so sure that anything is going to happen iyswim, its so different from last time, and just realised i am just short of 38 weeks not 37 doh, pregnancy brain!!!

Sounds to me like you overdid it a bit (possibly?) and things kicked off but then calmed down again. My next door neighbour had a false alarm like this and then went into labour about a week later, week and a half, something like that.

so still could have a little way to go, my other DS birthday party i sunday and his birthday monday so whats the betting it kicks off then!!!!

I'm 38 + 1 an had a similar experience at 36 weeks. Hadn't overdone things or had a particularly tiring morning but contractions started and as I baby would still have technically been premature my mw packed me off to hospital. Got to 3 cms dilated and then it all stopped, over the next week or so I had a show and some more small contractions but nothing since. Now resigning myself to going 2 weeks over! (even though ds was a week early)

Hang in there, def second the advice to speak to your midwife though. Let us know how it goes!

im due to see midwife on friday, so ill mention it to her then, unless obviously soemthing happens in the mean time, im still feeling baby move so am not concerned just wasnt sure what was happening.

Thanks for your messages, Minkus lets hope your LO makes an appearance soon too!

Anyone else got any thoughts, id be really interested for any advice from midwifes or doulas.
