Hi, I could do with some advice, I’ve just found out I’m pregnant, I’ve got a 5 year old and a 4 month old. I had c sections with both. I don’t feel like it’s the right time to have another baby but would like a 3rd in time. Has anyone been through this or had an abortion as it’s not the right time? My partner wouldn’t like another at this moment either. If anyone could offer some advice would be appreciated. Thankyou.

Not been through the same situation but sounds very tough! Lots of people have abortions because it’s not the right time. Probably most people! Good luck xx

Was there a reason you weren’t using contraception?

Peonies12 · 16/06/2026 15:57

I’d be very concerned about having another c-section so fast. If I were you I’d really consider not going ahead especially if your partner isnt keen. And get a coil or something

You know women do get pregnant even when using contraception? That’s why we are not told that they are 100% effective

HumanOfTheWeek · 16/06/2026 18:17

I wouldn‘t continue in those circumstances either, it’s too risky for your health.

It’s exceedingly rare.

I became pregnant whilst on the pill. Then I had a coil because the pill clearly wasn’t working and I became pregnant about 6 months after having it fitted.

I’m not sure what you mean.

General NHS advice is to leave at least 18 months between having a c section and getting pregnant again as this gives time for the scarring to heal properly and minimise the risk to baby and mother. It’s tough but in your situation I really would be thinking hard about how wise it would be to have a 3rd now.

I didn't have a section with my second but did with my first. Currently 30 months (c-section baby), 9 month old and 23 weeks pregnant. I'd ask for an urgent app to discuss your options, my main concern was being pregnant so close to labour etc too although I do understand my second was a VBAC.

I did question if we could go ahead etc. And had an abortion booked. We're really glad now we didn't go ahead with that. I'd ask for medical advice asap to fully know your options and risks.
