I gave birth around 5 months ago, and I have already got my cycle back as I am now bottle feeding. Noticed my lochia still is brown and smells kinda like dead fish.. it’s horrible.i have to constantly wear pantiliners. Do I have an infection or is this normal? Freaking outttt! Help!

If in doubt always see a GP

Why do you think it’s lochia after 5 months? Have you seen a doctor already in the last few months?

BatshitIsTheOnlyExplanation · 14/06/2026 00:33

That doesn't sound right. Lochia is 2-3 weeks, not months and if it smells at all it's more of a metallic smell.

If any smell is unpleasant then it’s not normal. Get a GP appt, sounds like it could be BV.

If you have your cycle back, then what you're seeing is not lochia.

Go and get a full gyne exam.
