Hi,

My sister is pregnant with her second child. Her pregnancy is high risk due to GD and she’s had on and off raised blood pressure throughout.

A week ago she had some contraction type pains but nothing progressed and she was sent home.

In the early hours of this morning her waters broke and have been leaking all day. The tests done at the hospital did show markers for infection and they had some worries about preeclampsia. They gave her antibiotics and have ruled out preeclampsia but are happy for her to go home tomorrow if things stay as they are.

She’s had infection markers in her urine throughout the pregnancy but they’ve never really been able to locate what’s causing this.

If your waters went at 35 weeks, what was your experience like?

thanks

My waters broke at 35 weeks and I went into labour shortly after and he was born within the hour. In hospital for a week and he’s now a strapping 19 year old.

Mine broke at 36+2. Labour was really fast, she was ready to be born in an hour and a half, but due to severe foetus distress she was delivered by emergency cesarian section. She was 5 days in neonatal icu and jaundiced and now is a 7.5 year old chatterbox.

@user2466i went into labour within an hour after waters broke. Same happened in my 2nd pregnancy but I was 32 weeks then. Waters broke and born within a few hours. Both babies are adults now.

Waters broke, had baby about 12 hours later - at 34 weeks, 5lb 5oz went home 2 days later.

I'll provide an alternative view. My waters broke at 34 weeks - less of a break more of a leak I guess - I was in hospital for 5 days while they waited to see if I went into labour, I didn't.

I got sent home for another 5 or 6 days with antibiotics and every other day monitoring at the hospital - baby trace and infection checks.

Then booked in for induction at 36+1 with DD arriving by section at 36+2

Mine broke at 34 weeks but I didn’t go into labour. Was sent home after 2 nights in hospital, and induced at 37 weeks.

My waters broke at 36 weeks with ds2. they thought it was due to a urine infection. they gave me steroids and baby was delivered within 24 hours. he spent some time in ITU at a childrens hospital with a meconium plug blocking his bowel but ultimately fine. This was 25 years ago !

Mine went at 36 weeks. Contractions came within a few minutes, healthy baby via emcs 7 hrs later.

Thanks everyone. She’s been having some pains here and there and has got a pink discharge too but nothing screaming active labour. They keep changing the plan (understandably they don’t have a crystal ball), the last thing they said was that if she doesn’t have active labour pains she’ll be sent home tomorrow and will be induced when she’s 37 weeks. She continues to have a lot of that pink discharge so I guess it’s just a waiting game now.
