Should pregnancy test lines still be faint at 5 weeks 6 days?

Hello

Last week I got my first ever positive preganancy test (!!!). I was testing every day, and it took 7 days from my missed period to get a faint positive.

The lines are still really faint which worries me a lot. From the date of my last period, I should be 5+6 as of today. I got my first 2-3w on clearblue yesterday.

I am just really worried that something isnt right! Shouldnt these lines be getting darker by now?

The order of the tests is bottom up - from 4th, 6th and 8th June. All FMU expect the one with a P (pm).

What do you think? Im very worried.

Congratulations. Don't panic, your 8th June one shows progression x

There is line progression. These cheap sticks are like that.

You are pregnant, testing more won’t change anything. Try to relax and enjoy this time (easier said than done I know).

I have never used those tests so whilst they seem light it may be that they don’t get particularly dark.

Is there any chance you could be earlier than you think?

What are your symptoms like?

My first pregnancy was a bit like that (although I didn’t use strip tests) and it was an ectopic pregnancy but looking back the signs had been there (brown bleeding early on, one sided pain etc).

You can get an internal scan from 6 weeks so if you’re worried you could contact your local Early Pregnancy Unit and see if they will see you (some require referral from your GP first).

Hello,

Why not ring your GP and ask for some blood tests? It needs to be 2 blood tests 48hrs apart. Not to worry you, as it is rare, but I would also want to rule out ectopic.

I had an ectopic pregnancy too and my tests looked a little like that (like with the previous poster there were some other signs too, but I didn't have one sided pain especially)

Good luck x

I could be earlier. 5w6 is the time since my last period. Im pretty sure the last time we had IC this cycle was 15th May...so if id ovulated late i might be a week behind?

No symptoms other than sore boobs

Really worried about ectopic. Will see what the GP can do.

Deffo pregnant I never used srtrips after first always faint preferred blue

Possibly you ovulated later than the standard CD14. Your tests make perfectly sense in this scenario.

Or possibly it is not going to be a successful pregnancy. Either MC or ectopic. Keep an eye on concerning symptoms, but progressing but faint tests alone are not particularly indicative of ectopic, more MC.

If it was just the cheapy tests I would agree with pp that they can be very faint throughout pregnancy, but the CB Digital is also a week later than expected. I think it's extremely unlikely both types of tests are unreliable.

Hopefully it is just late ovulation 🤞

alakas · 08/06/2026 14:31

Yes late ovulation would deffo make sense of the tests/not having a positive until your period was well overdue.

Please don't worry too much about an ectopic if you don't have other symptoms because it is unlikely and I didn't mean to scare you. But I think it's worth asking your GP for advice just to be on the safe side x

These are my tests tonight. The blue dye is better! Pink still very weak. I honestly dont know what to think. So stressful!

Blue is looking good given that kind of test is less sensitive too 🤞

AmberTigerEyes · 08/06/2026 22:35

It is looking pretty good. I got false negatives until I was missing my second period but I was definitely pregnant. If you’re well hydrated and using a budget test, it won’t be as stark a line.
