Severe stomach pain at 12 weeks despite reassuring scan and antibiotics

TW: previous loss.
Hello, I have had stomach aches and pains on and off throught so far, currently 12w3d. The pain has been really severe for the last 3 days and not easing. I had a scan at the EPU yesterday and everything seemed to be fine. However I'm still in really bad pain, to the point it is keeping me awake.
I have had a UTI and they have put it down to that, but I am on my last day of antibiotics so this should be more or less cleared up now.
I have had previous losses at 7 and 14 weeks and despite the reassuring scan I cant escape feeling that something is going to happen, I don't see how I can be in so much pain and everything is ok.

Sorry to hear this, but some hope as the baby was fine yesterday, and even though you have had a late loss, your chances of it happening again have decreased now your past the most crucial point. The pain is it like contractions? Or a painful constant ache?

Can you get back in to see your GP today? If you're still having pain which could be related to the UTI and you're on your last day of antibiotics, they might need to extend the prescription or try a different antibiotic. I've had this before with a UTI where the course was not long enough to clear it and I had to do another course. But if you contact them now before the weekend, you might be able to get away with just extending it a little bit rather than needing another full course.

How many days antibiotics did they give you for the UTI? I've needed 10 days to properly clear UTIs in pregnancy. Usually they try to get away with 3 days or 7 days and you have to ask for more if you still have symptoms.

If it isn't UTI type pain, what is it? Uterine cramps/period pain? Stabbing pain? Muscle pain? Is it just when you move or is it when you lie down too? Does a particular area hurt when you press it? Etc.

Thank you. It's constant, like severe period pain. I'm thinking maybe could be trapped wind? But it has been a few days now and isn't easing.

I really struggle to tell the difference between uterine cramps and gut cramps when pregnant. Nothing is in its usual place for a start! So it could be digestive but since it's been a few days you'd expect to have other signs, such as change of bowel habits, wind, etc.

I would ask to extend the antibiotic course as a precaution, assuming you've not yet had 10 days? If it's still not resolved after 10 days I'd seek further help. Do so sooner if anything gets worse obviously.

You haven’t mentioned any bleeding which I would take as a positive sign, I would speak to your mw or gp asap though so they can run any further tests. Good luck I hope everything will be ok for you.
