Hi mums :)

Pregnant with second baby. We’ve had a loss before our little boy and it was the most traumatic thing I’ve ever been through so, ofcourse we’re nervous. We’re just under 7 weeks atm. Went for early viability scan at 6 weeks. Sonographer could see the sack but no yolk by abdominal scan so we opted for a transvaginal.

She was unsure if she could see the fetal pole. She said it was early, and has booked me in for a rescan. But then she said oh, I’m not sure if that is the heartbeat and she let us record it. She did find the yolk sack aswell. I’d upload the video but I can’t. It’s a little flicker of white in the yolk sack.

we go back next week… we also get married on Saturday and it’s the hardest wait to know if everything is ok 😭 Has anyone experienced this?

Hi,

Just wanted to pop on and say yes I have. Our first was an IVF baby. I had bleeding and was already anxious. We went to our scan at graduation at about 7 weeks and the sonographer frightened the life out of us by saying she ‘wasn’t sure everything was okay’ and the ‘heartbeat was very low’. I rang the clinic when we got home in tears and the doctor reviewed it and said everything was within normal parameters and she shouldn’t have scared me like that! We had a private scan at 8 weeks and everything was absolutely fine and my little boy is now almost 14 months!

6 weeks is early and on that cusp of being able to/not being able to see the heartbeat. Everything is SO tiny. If you’ve not had any bleeding, you’re measuring right for your dates and you’ve seen a flicker, I think that’s pretty good for 6 weeks. So for now, you are pregnant! Congratulations!

Nobody can see the future but I bet the sonographer just had a poor manner on her. If you rang EPU would they squeeze in a scan for you do you think considering your previous loss?

Wishing you all the very best, and congratulations both on your marriage and your pregnancy!
