Tired and uncomfortable

Just a bit of a whinge really (although if anyone has suffered similar I would be interested to hear from you). Am 36 weeks pregnant now and have just started maternity leave. Was looking forward to pottering about, little walks in the park, that sort of thing but I feel so exhausted that a 10 minute trip to feed the ducks yesterday required a two hour afternoon nap to recover!! So much for pottering!

The other problem is the fact that I am unable to wear a bra for more than a very short period of time because of a very strange pain in my ribs and surrounding tissue/ muscles (?). It really hurts and doesn't seem to be alieviated by a hot compress or similar. The midwife seemed to think it might be the fact that the baby has kicked my diaphragm one too many times but the diaphragm is under your ribs so I'm dubious as the pain is directly underneath my right breast. Any ideas about what this could be? The pain is still there evn when braless...

Yes I'm right there with you!! Every step I take hurts and I'm exhausted!!

Regarding the pain you're having - it could easily be a rib that's not sitting quite right / not moving properly. Very common in pregnancy because baby changes the position of the whole rib cage. I'd recommend seeing an osteopath

Hi, my ribs are killing me too, it feels like they are bruised from left to right , right under my boobs. i too cant wear a bra for longer than a few hours - ive resorted to having permanently erect nipples stuck out of my clothing all the time!
Do you wear underwired bras? i did but changed to a non under wired maternity bra but this still hurts, and as you say it still hurts when i havent got one on! God knows what it is eh?!!!!!xxx (32 weeks)

I have always worn underwired but have had maternity bras for the past couple of months, they hurt too! I think it is probably just due to everything being in a different place but doesn't make it any less uncomfortable. I'm also worried that I will end up with saggy boobs!!

google rib flare for the rib pain thing
it's normal in pg - your ribs actually expand by inches to make room for the baby (am surprised your midwife didn't know about it?)

I am 38 weeks and a bit and just started taking spatone for tiredness
worth trying even if your iron levels are within normal range IMO - has made a BIG difference to me

Thank the lord, I'm not on my own!!!! I am just short of 35 weeks and started mat leave this week. Had plans to do lots of nice pottering about. Instead feel like a proper dog's dinner. Everything exhausts me, all clothes (esp bras) are uncomfortable, feel like the baby is about to drop out at any time and feel queasy constantly. This is DC3 so you'd think I'd know what's what by now.

More depressingly I went two weeks over with the last two which means I could have another 7 weeks to go!!!

I know I should be feeling blessed and grateful but feel so under the weather. Anyone got any positive thoughts to get me through??

I went swimming yesterday and it made me feel a bit better for a while (although I needed a long nap to recover!!). I have decided that I will plan a tiny outing/ event each day even if it is just chatting to someone on the phone (don't feel confident going too far from home at the moment, especially when my other half is out at work). Am trying to enjoy my naps because I know that soon I will wish that I could nap whenever I want.
