Anyone had a sweep while GBS positive and overdue in pregnancy?

I am currently four days past my due date and will see the community midwife on Wednesday (if the baby hasn’t arrived by then). This is my second pregnancy and I plan to deliver on the consultant led unit due to blood loss following my previous birth. I am also GBS positive, and so reluctant to have a sweep, as I read that there is a ‘theoretical risk’ of infection being introduced into the uterus. I am looking for experiences of any women who might have been in the same situation. Did you have a sweep and what was the outcome? I would love to let the baby come in their own time, but after my previous birth experience I just want to do the safest thing all round. Thank you!

No sweep here but I did have a baby who developed GBS sepsis (i didnt know i was GBS+ and had a long labour with SROM before contractions) and these guys were so helpful. They have a helpline so maybe you could give them a call and ask if they can advise on the position with sweeps? https://gbss.org.uk/ (link might take a minute to load)

Hi @CrispAppleStrudels, thank you for your reply. I hope all was well with your baby in the end. I’m sure that was a stressful time.
