Anyone had several pregnancy complications and still delivered a healthy baby?

Hi all,

I am 31 weeks pregnant. I have had 6 UTIs during my pregnancy, thrush, a short cervix that requires pessaries and now gestational diabetes. I am so worried about my baby's health. Can anyone tell me if they had a similar experience and a healthy baby at the end? Feeling so miserable with it all. Could really do with the reassurance.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes, loads! Massive bleeds early on, foetal heart issues, gestational diabetes, short cervix, hypertension, preeclampsia, UTIs, recurrent thrush, oral thrush, Covid. All babies were absolutely fine, but I certainly suffered to get them earthside.

you have my sympathy it’s miserable but I hope you don’t need to add additional worry for your baby’s health unnecessarily. Sending strength. You’re nearly on the home stretch!

It's not uncommon at all.
Talk to your midwife and try not to worry!

I had so many issues in my 3rd pregnancy.
Baby was absolutely fine.

On gestational diabetes, it is really tough at first. I found the gestational diabetes UK website so helpful and the app Malama really useful for tracking and sharing with the consultant.

Hyperemesis which had me in hospital in a drip for four months in first pregnancy and three months in second. My GP at the time said that hyperemesis was felt to be a sign of a healthy baby - whether that's true, or he just said it to try to put my mind at rest, it definitely reassured me, especially as at that time there wasn't really any medication that could help. Miscarried DC1 twin at 12 weeks.
DC1 is now 37 years old and dc2 is 34. Both born at good weight ( over 10lb) and both now healthy and successful adults.
Best wishes.

Shortened cervix that needed a surgical stitch and progesterone pessaries, hypertension, thrush, gestational diabetes, covid, group b strep, a heart murmur.

All fine for me and baby at the end. You'll be alright.

Thank you so much for the reassurance! I'm a wreck, so this really is the ray of light I need.

Thank you @oneoffname. I wish my consultant had something positive to say. I find him rather pessimistic, often opting for a line like his latest: "It could go either way. I've seen so many bad outcomes I wouldn't want to get your hopes up unfairly." He sure knows how to do anything but get my hopes up!
