Hi guys, I know this is quite controversial but has anyone lost weight/not gained much during their 1st/2nd trimester?
I have a 3.5year old and still 2stone heavier than I was pre pregnancy. Just found out I'm pregnant with baby no.2 (5weeks)
I'm really worried about how much I'll put on this one, especially because last time I went off anything remotely healthy. Couldn't eat much veg or salad as it tasted like pure dirt.
I'm trying to be mindful and as healthy as I can be, the heat is helping as I'm wanting a lot of fruit but also I'm tired so motivation to make dinners is weak haha.
I've also just come off of an AI holiday and I have gained 6lb already from that!!

TIA xx

Yes but only because I had hyperemesis!
I don’t see why following a healthy eating plan and upping your activity levels would be detrimental to the pregnancy. I would probably not bother weighing myself whilst pregnant and just work on setting yourself up to have healthy eating habits to make losing baby weight easier once you have given birth.

I lost weight in the first and third trimesters with my daughter due to hyperemesis, as well as in two pregnancies that I lost at 10 weeks. In my 4th pregnancy I stayed the same weight in the 1st trimester but then didn't gain any weight from 29 weeks and finished 1kg less than at 29 weeks as I developed liver issues and severe fatigue where I wasn't awake enough to eat sufficient amounts of food.

In both cases there wasn't a negative impact on the babies and we're both decent weights for my size and gestation.

Yes because of Hg. I was non stop vomiting.

Why are you weighing yourself? Stop if it’s worrying you.

I lost 20lb from when I first found out I was pregnant after I gave birth.
I gained a few kilos- just baby but ultimately lost weight as I had gestational diabetes so had to be very mindful of what I ate to keep sugars under control.
Having a healthy diet isn’t going to be detrimental but be mindful that you are eating the right foods.

Also lost weight due to hyperemesis with my second pregnancy - a stone in the first trimester…but I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy!

Nothing wrong with heaithy eating and exercise in pregnancy, though, as long as you are sensible.

Fwiw, I found I lost weight more easily after my second than with my first, as I was running around after a toddler and feeding a baby.

Absolutely eat healthily, but don't try to lose weight while pregnant. It's quite normal not to gain much if anything for the first couple of trimesters as the baby is still quite tiny.

Thanks everyone! I think what is worrying me is that I gained a lot during my first pregnancy and didn't lose it so god knows what I'll be towards the end of this pregnancy!
That being said I will be more active with a toddler to run after so hoping it balances it out!
Just think I had it in my head that I would lose the baby weight before having another but that never happened and here we are haha.
Hoping I crave fruit and veg this time and not maccys and crunchy nut LOL!!
