Why Is The First Trimester So Unbearable.... 8 Weeks But Has Felt Like 8 Years

Anyone else want a 1st trimester moan?

This is baby no.2, very wanted and planned but ohhh my God. It is dragging 😫

I'm fed up with the nausea, the exhaustion, the thought of everything making me feel sick, feeling like I can't do much of anything.

The only thing getting me through is counting down in half weeks!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I agree, the first trimester is absolutely horrendous and I have no idea why I endured it 3 times (I mean, I guess the kids are worth it in the end). Solidarity though, I hated every minute of it. Currently 29 weeks and feeling loads better! Would take 3rd tri over 1st any day.

@LoveYouHoneybear Oh, I'm so jealous! 😂 I too would absolutely take 3rd trimester over this. I just have to get through June and I should start feeling human again 🤞🏻

Be kind to yourself OP! First trimester isn't for the faint hearted - especially with another child to contend with!

... saying that, I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my second - my first is 17 months old - and this heat is just about to finish me off 🤣 I miss the 2nd trimester, haha!

ladybird30 · 25/05/2026 17:01

@PinkOrchard The heat is too much isnt it! I dont know how but it's making me want to throw up!? Pregnancy is too wild. I've got a 3 year old in tow so I feel you!

It's horrid! I did 3 first trimesters in 9 months as I had two losses at 10 weeks. After the second miscarriage we discussed trying again and I said I could only manage to go through it all one more time.

Try to keep as hydrated as possible as being dehydrated will increase the nausea. If you need speak to drs about antiemetics. I had hyperemesis in 3 of my 4 pregnancies and xonvea was an absolute life line!

Rest up as much as possible and don't feel bad about putting on the TV if you need. I spent a month on the sofa with my almost 4 year old in one pregnancy watching and rewatching the Olympics and another watching Christmas films. Just do what you need to get through the days also make use of sick leave or WFH as a reasonable adjustment if you need and it is practical

@ladybird30 hey OP. I am 9 weeks pregnant with baby 2. It feels like I have been pregnant forever. All day nausea peaking in the evenings, being sick most nights 2-3 times. It's a bit better with some anti sickness medication but they have turned me into a constipated zombie. I'm so tired and coffee, previously my only life line, now turns my stomach! Working and looking after a toddler is very hard feeling like this. Sending you lots and lots of solidarity, especially in this hot weather which seems to make it all worse xx
