I am considering care snd delivery at UCLH as a solo mum to be over 40 (conceived via IVF). Can anybody share their experience about care by the UCLH team for older mums? Experience in general of delivery and postnatal care- (e.g treatment approach, quality, technical side vs because manner & support, access to/additional info about things like doulas etc?)As a solo mum with limited friends and family nearby the care and team will be important. Thank you

Will you be a private client or through nhs?

There is no nhs care team. You’d need a doula. I went home 23 hours post birth with a spinal headache vomiting when I was upright, They wanted to discharge me but reluctantly said i could stay, but there’s nobody there to care for your baby so I needed dh and he needed to be home with our toddler. I was readmitted of course. With my first I’d asked 3 different staff about my medications to sort that before discharge and they’d all disappeared and didn’t come back , someone else came in and told me to get moving it was very selfish of me to be there still when someone else could be using the bed. I burst into tears.
