Worried about dishwasher pod residue on clothes at five weeks pregnant

few quick questions. I’m around 5 weeks pregnant
it might sound stupid but my anxiety is a tad high at the moment, which I am getting help for during my pregnancy just waiting for an appointment.
been so forgetful and brain fog with this pregnancy, earlier this week when washing clothes I accidentally used a dishwasher pod instead of washing pod.
i rinsed them after I noticed when finished. First question if there was dishwasher pod residue was on clothes mainly pants and wore them for a day would that harm the 5 weeks pregnancy?
secondly I have been abit paranoid on wearing stuff that might have it on but all smelt clean so was unsure. Can sniffing the clothes a lot to check cause the chemicals from the washing pod or even the dishwasher pod to go into my system and harm 5 weeks pregnancy?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

No. Don't worry. It'll be fine.

Given that dishwasher pods are used to clean things that you eat off, I would have thought their residues are safer than laundry pods.

Fleurdalys · 23/05/2026 23:23

Seriously?

This. The ingredients will be things which are deemed safe to come into contact with crockery which we eat off, so I wouldn’t worry at all.

Seriously?

Such a helpful response to somebody with a bit of heightened pregnancy anxiety. Thank you so much.

It’s just soap, it will be fine!

It’s all just soap. Soap isn’t harmful.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 23/05/2026 23:31

Good luck with your pregnancy! 🍀

Thank you for the responses and not for judging me about my anxiety. I had a really difficult pregnancy with one before due to complications which is why anxiety is higher than usual but I’m going to get help.
Just to clear up Will the baby be fine if I was sniffing the clothes as well with the detergent/dishewasher pods as was inhaling them quite deeply?

It'll be okay op x

KojaksLollipop · 23/05/2026 23:43

You’ll be absolutely fine.

if you’re really worried then rewash them with laundry detergent.

Greebosmum · 23/05/2026 23:49

When I was expecting one of mine I was totally hooked on the smell of a particular car air freshener. The ones that look like traffic lights. I couldn't get enough and held them up to my nose and inhaled like Billy oh. Not dishwasher tablets I know but I imagine much more likely to be harmful. We were both fine and since the day she was born I have never sniffed a car air freshener. Please don't worry.

Vodkamartini3olives · 24/05/2026 00:02

If it's any consolation one of my kids licked a finish dishwasher tablet when he was 3 or 4. He's turned out ok.

OutOfSynnc · 24/05/2026 00:12

It won't harm your baby, maybe make your own skin itchy if you've sensitive skin.
I would rewash without any soap just a little white vinegar to rinse any reside that may be there away.
For your own peace of mind.
