Telling boss pregnant - new job

I am 11 months into a new job and have found out Im pregnant. (30/f) with my first. My husband and I have only just started trying.

I will have been in my new job 19months when I go on maternity leave. Its getting closer to when I need to tell my boss and Im quite scared!

Any tips? Hes a kind man but also they are a small business and my role is one of great responsibility - hes placed a lot of faith in me being pivotal in delivering a big plan for 2027/2028/2029. Having said that, they knew I was a 30 year old married woman when I interviewed so im kind of thinking they also may come to expect this sort of news.

Its lovely youre being so conscientious. 19 months is a good length of time to have been jn a job- many people swap jobs even before then.
Id have a little script rehearsed and deliver it as unemotionally as possible. Its nothing to be sorry or scared about - your life is for living and its a great thing you got pregnant so quickly. He might be nice but trust me when I say that if he had news for you (redundancy or pay cut or something like that) he'd do it without hesitation. Make sure you get everything youre entitled to and go and enjoy your baby ! Xx
