Dating Discrepancy at Early Scan

Hello! I’ve got myself in a bit of a tizzy so thought I’d post here for some experiences/advice! So I had a miscarriage at 6w2d on 8/4/26, stopped bleeding 15/4/26 and then tested negative post miscarriage on 19/4/26. From 3/5/26 I started getting faint faint squinters on clearblue ultra advanced early tests. I had HCG bloods taken on 6/5/26 which came back as 19 and they increased to 276 on 13/5/26 and 727 on 15/5/26 and lines have also progressed. I had a scan today at EPU to make sure everything was in the right place and although I wasn’t tracking ovulation I was expecting to be around 5w5d. The ultrasound tech said she could see the gestational sac and yolk sac so I was thinking all good until she said the gestational sac measured 5w1d. I’m not 100% sure on my ovulation date however based on first testing positive on 3/5/26 I don’t see how I can feasibly only be 5w1d- the dates just don’t add up. I’m In a bit of a panic now as this is exactly how my miscarriage started- measuring behind, then a week later the bleeding started 😓 Any advice/thoughts would be welcome!

Congratulations!
With both of my DCs the scans were always off by a few days. With DC1 4 days before my calculation (based on last period) and then DC2 was 3 days later. Both healthy, both born at 38w. Good luck!

a few days discrepancy at this stage normal.
this early it’s still really small and even a millimetre difference can mean days

Thanks both! I’m really hoping it’s just a measuring discrepancy because I honestly don’t know how I’ll deal with a second loss in 2 months, it’s just so worrying- one of these days it would be nice to go to a scan and get good news 😓

Try not to worry @sapphirerubydiamondI’m pregnant quickly after a loss too, my due date at early scans changed from 28/10 - 05/11 in the first few weeks. When everything is so small, it’s hard for them to be accurate. Have you got any further scans booked where you’ll be a little further along and able to see heartbeat?

Thanks @LPR16 It’s just so hard to find a balance between staying positive and not getting my hopes up as this is exactly how my last loss stated. Hoping it’s just a measuring discrepancy and everything works out 🤞🏻 but I’m also on progesterone this time around and worried it’s masking a miscarriage 😪. I have another scan booked on Thursday.

congratulations on your pregnancy ✨ pregnancy after loss is so hard isn’t it!

I was taking progesterone too, and had the exact same worry. I was prescribed it until 16 weeks and held my breath for the first few days after coming off it. It is incredibly hard & I’ve found there’s nothing anyone can say to make it easier, but as each day and scan goes by, it does get a little easier.
I hope your scan goes ok, I’ll be thinking of you x
