Bleeding and slightly open cervix at 6 weeks, any hopeful experiences?

Am 6+2 and felt awful cramping for 2 hours and had blood this morning and clots this afternoon. Despite this, scan this afternoon showed heartbeat and fetal pole but later check at hospital told me not to be optimistic because cervix slightly open.

I am completely gutted. Clutching at straws, has anyone’s pregnancy survived this before? Thanks

Have you had a previous vaginal delivery? If so your cervix can forever more look like it’s slightly open to the inexperienced eye. I had a junior doctor tell me I was def miscarrying as my cervix looked slightly open with my third dc, it wasn’t, and I wasn’t, as later confirmed by a more experienced doctor. Good luck.

Oh wow @sunflowersnturnips that’s so useful to know! I have a tiny bit of hope then. I previously had a c-section but that was an emergency and so labour was well under way - hoping and praying that counts!

The sonographer I saw at a private clinic before I went to hospital said my internal cervix looked closed so maybe there is a tiny ray of hope. I’ve not bled or cramped since yesterday afternoon. Thank you again for responding.

Thank you @sunflowersnturnips again for contributing - looks like I had the same as you as today’s scan shows everything fine and a closed cervix (at least from the outside). Thank goodness!

Thank you again for sharing x

I’m so pleased for you! Fingers crossed for a very boring next 7.5 months!
