Anxious about dating and test progression after positive pregnancy test

I have been very fortunate after 6 years of trying, I have had a positive test working out my date on calculators online with my cycle length which is usually around 35 days, I am 6 weeks 4 days pregnant. I am still having really strong positives and clear blue digital have changed from 1-2 to 2-3.
I am worried that it isn’t progressing because of this I’m trying to balance it with that my date may be wrong because of periods etc. has anyone else been in this situation? I’ve had previous losses so struggling a lot with anxiety x

im a bit confused why do you think it’s not progressing jf the clear blue dates have gone up? Do you know when you ovulated?

Hj1702 · 16/05/2026 20:35

update: if it’s by due date it should be 3+ by now. No I don’t as we had decided to have a break from
trying after a long 6 years x

At more than 6 weeks you could go and get a private scan. Or if you’ve had previous losses could you not get your GP/midwife to refer you into the early pregnancy unit for an early scan? Step away from the tests too!

I never got a 3+ on the clear blue with DD and I was obsessed with testing for weeks trying to analyse if they were getting darker etc, deciding that they weren’t progressing enough. She’s now 4 months. I’d had 3 MC in the 1.5 years prior to getting pregnant with DD. Can EPU see you if you’ve had multiple losses? Reassurance after scans didn’t last long but I did have an idea if she was growing as expected in those earlier weeks.

edited to add if I’m lucky enough to be pregnant again in future I’m not letting myself buy multiple tests.. I was making myself sick with worry over them and it doesn’t really prove anything anyway!

I asked my GP and they declined it I referred myself to midwives last week and I still haven’t had contact back from them despite leaving messages this week. I’ve just managed to book a private scan tomorrow x

Due dates work on an average 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14. Unless you used a calculator that asked for ovulation date/luteal phase it will probably be wrong for you. You very likely ovulated at least a week after the standard day 14. So by period date you are 6w4. But most likely you’re more like 5w4. 2-3 weeks on a digital test is 4-5 weeks pregnant. So not far off.

BudgetBuster · 16/05/2026 22:28

Dating from LMP ulis just because that's the last definite date that a doctor can work from. It usually correlates with a 28 day cycle and ovulation arojnd day 14ish (give or take).

Given you have a pretty long cycle, I'd think you wouldn't hair ovulated around day 14. More likely around day 20ish which would align more with the CB test. The CB test works off the level of HCG which obviously only starts after ovulation & implantation.

I see you booked a scan first tomorrow but don't be worried if you are actually only measuring around 5ish weeks because your cycle isn't "standard"... it doesn't mean that you aren't progressing.

carnivalcat · 16/05/2026 22:34

Congratulations!

I have a similar cycle and don’t usually ovulate until around day 21 rather than day 14. You’re probably a week earlier than you think.

Hope your scan goes well tomorrow, is it an internal one? Prepare yourself that you may well not see anything, and that could mean you’re just too early rather than bad news.

Thank you - yeah it’s an internal one. X

That's great and I think in line with your longer cycle.
