What are you all doing ?
Im struggling so bad to get my readings within range. My fasting readings are also high.
My last meal was a 1 sausage , 1 egg and beans followed by some almond butter for extra protein and it still spiked 9.8.
For lunch I just had a salad and an apple, and still above target in the 9s.
Every reading is bad. I finally had 2 good readings today before lunch and dinner but only because Ive practically starved myself all day which isnt ideal.
I had gd in my last pregnancy although not diagnosed until much later until late 20 weeks ( im only 13 w currently) and was on insulin which i still struggled to control my spikes. My little boy was born with hypoglycemia and spent a few weeks in nicu so im finding it rather stressful dealing with diabetes again.
I reckon they'll start me on insulin at my appointment on Friday. Im currently on 1500mg metformin but its not doing much.
Im struggling for meal ideas and healthy snack options that won't spike my sugars but are also satisfying. Ive a very basic palette .

I had it with my pregnancy 7 years ago. There was a Facebook group I joined which was a lot more helpful than the nhs information. I can't remember the same but join a few and get an idea of what you should be doing. The apple stands out as a no no because of the sugar. I think I could only tolerate a few strawberries, because they are actually lower in sugar. The beans you had would also be full of sugar so that could be the other spike.

I think for breakfast I would have a variety of chopped nuts with plain greek yoghurt and like two strawberries chopped up

Lunch I could handle a slice of rye bread with chicken and cucumber. Meat was generally fine. It's carbs, fruit and added sugar to avoid

Sorry you’re dealing with this again.
High readings are really common with GD even on metformin, so it doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. Many people do end up needing insulin to get stable control.
Try focusing on regular meals with protein + healthy fats (eggs, meat, fish, cheese, yogurt, nuts) and lower portions of carbs/fruit, rather than skipping meals.
Hopefully your appointment on Friday gives you a clearer plan and better control.
