Caught a virus 3rd trimester

Hi all, just wanted to vent really as I am sitting here feeling sorry for myself and worrying.
I am 36+2, caught a sore throat virus according to the GP. Swallowing has been so painful for the past 5 days, doesn’t seem to be tonsillitis just something viral. This is an issue as I am taking paracetamol constantly I can only take it every 6 hours. Of course it’s only actually helping for around 2 hours. Not allowed ibuprofen or any type of numbing spray, no antibiotics as it is viral.

This has turned into a snotty nose and me coughing my guts up with green stuff. All the while still really hurting to swallow. I have been unable to sleep due to random insomnia and acid reflux, as well as the throat pain. Now I have started with sinus pain which also radiates to my upper teeth, every time I catch something respiratory this happens.

I have had diarrhoea or loose stools for the past week, period pain sometimes and random twinges, not every day but it has happened. I am so worried she is going to arrive early and I will be feeling ill on top of going through labour. Just packed our hospital bags finally, keep being wide awake until like 4am and I don’t understand why. I know it’s probably my body gearing up for the sleepless nights to come but bloody hell I just want to be able to sleep. I have just had some more paracetamol so hopefully that helps with the sinus tooth pain. 🤦🏻‍♀️ has anyone else been through this?

Very unpleasant but unlikely to cause early labour. Bodies are pretty resilient even when they make us feel like crap

I was really worried about this too with my second. In the end I did get sick and I'm pretty sure it was my sister-in-law coming to see the baby in hospital when she had just caught a cold.
However I survived! You just have to really, and I didn't really have time to even think about the cold. Yes it was annoying coughing all the blood out and I felt extremely sorry for myself (as one should in that condition) but it was not as bad as I thought. Adrenaline kicks in and the baby was protected through breast milk and was absolutely fine.
I just kept hydrated and my husband made some delicious garlic soup which I'm pretty sure helped- bonus my now 15 month old loves garlicky meals (wonder if related).
Hope all goes well for you x

Thank you guys, yes I am telling myself she will probably come at a perfectly normal gestation. By that time I will be all better, it’s just the what if’s going through my head. I was with someone last week whose child kept coughing at me over lunch but I suppose I could have caught this from anywhere. It sucks when you’re pregnant because all you can take is paracetamol 🤦🏻‍♀️.

I had Covid in the third trimester and it was horrible. I totally sympathise with the frustration over not being able to take things that would make you feel better. I found hot drinks helped in a small but meaningful way. Various teas with honey for the throat, or hot honey and lemon can be good too if the lemon doesn't irritate your throat. I found soups good for similar reasons.

Some light disinfectant pastils/throat sprays are allowed in pregnancy.

I have some salt-based ones, but the pharmacist offered me several options.

I'm 38+6 and I could have written this exact post! I feel soo rough - especially with throat / snot in the morning. But by the afternoon, I'm soo achy and tired.

I only have sympathies OP xx
