Queens Hospital or Basildon Hospital

Looking for advice 💛

My partner and I were lucky enough to have success with IVF and I’m currently 8 weeks pregnant. I’ve done my NHS referral for hospitals near us (we’re based in Brentwood).

My first choice was Broomfield Hospital purely because a few friends had really positive experiences there, but they’ve emailed to say they don’t currently have the capacity to take me on ☹️

So now I’m trying to decide between Basildon University Hospital and Queen’s Hospital and would really appreciate any honest experiences or advice.

I know everyone’s experience is different, but it’s taken us a long time to get here and I think I just want to feel as safe and reassured as possible going into this next stage 🤍

I can't comment on Queens but Basildon were awful for my sister in law, she ended up in sepsis with her first, no one was listening to her or my brother, and her second ended in an emergency forceps delivery after a midwife insisted she was fine to give birth vaginally (she wasn't she had strep b in the first labour because she'd been left with waters broken for nearly 72 hours because of 'an error with her notes' and had been told not to deliver vaginally for the second). Eventually my brother got hold of PALs a consultant came and went mad and took them both for surgery my DN was delivered and sustained a severe infection that kept her in hospital for weeks. I'd rather give birth in the carpark

Oh dear, I was going to say I cannot comment on Basildon but that Queens is awful and should be avoided if possible.

Is there no chance you can use King George OP?

@IPM- King George is miles away from me ☹️

It's not too far from Brentwood really.

About 15 minutes drive from Romford.

Having said that, I just looked up Queen's and it's been rated as 'Requires improvement' for overall care, but recently rated 'Good' for maternity.

So that's positive.
