Early scan

Wondering if anyone could share some stories.

I attended an early scan on Tuesday based of NHS calculations I was estimated to be just over 7 weeks I knew this would more than likely be incorrect due to suffering with PCOS and having a 34 day cycle so if my midwife’s calculations I was due to be 6 weeks on Tuesday. When I attended the early scan I had a gestation sac measuring 12.2mm and a yolk sac both measuring to 6 weeks exactly but currently no fetal pole but after speaking to numerous medical professionals they wouldn’t expect to see a fetal pole at 6 weeks especially suffering with PCOS and it putting me at least 2 weeks behind a normal pregnancy and that a yolk sac only develops between 5-6 weeks they have all said it’s good that the yolk sac is developing as expected and that I’m measuring correctly. I have an appointment at the EPU next Thursday and I am just looking for any information or stories. Thank you x

Ive had this go both ways op. Once was a loss and once is 8mo and climbing all over me right now. All the best for epau. Was it an internal scan?

If your cycle is 34 days then you would have been 5 weeks at the scan rather than 6, and at 5 weeks you may not have a fetal pole yet. That usually appears 5.5 - 6 weeks and a heartbeat is possible around then too. If your yolk sac and gestational sac measured 6 weeks though then that muddies things a bit as that’s pointing to you being 6 weeks, and a fetal pole should be seen by that point. Unfortunately it’ll just be a waiting game now until you can have your next scan, it could go either way.
