Are elective caesareans booked on bank holidays in December?

I will be due for an elective c-section at Broomfield hospital essex this December. Do they book elective sections on bank holidays? E.g 28th December which will be a bank holiday this year. I’m just trying to work out the likeliness of being out of hospital before new year. Thank you.

They didn’t when I had my son eleven years ago although we’re in Herefordshire so it may be different where you are. Born on 5th May, would have been booked in on 4th May if it wasn’t a bank holiday. Son really annoyed as he’s a big Star Wars fan 😂

Sorry, just realised you asked about bank holidays in December 🤦‍♀️

Not at my trust. Operating days will be 29th, 30th, 31st that week. I can absolutely see an attempt to have an additional list on Saturday 2nd January to cope with any extra demand. There might be feelers put out for staff to work an additional list Boxing Day as well but history suggests it won't go well.

No not at my trust either. But as a PP has said, occasionally they will try and run an extra list if there are lots of ladies in need of ELCS and not enough slots given the bank holidays.

Not bank holidays and also not weekends here either

Why? What is the relevance of new year?
