Outdoor cat with worms while pregnant and worried about toddler exposure and my own

There is an outdoor cat at my parents house. I often go out and give it rubs, my daughter also does (she’s 2). It jumped on my lap the other day. The problem is I just saw a worm on its bum earlier and I’m panicking that could affect my toddler and the baby. Is this a possibility? I’m 6 weeks pregnant after previously suffering a miscarriage and definitely anxious.

They need to buy it medication from the vet or online. Just because it’s an outdoor cat doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be treated. Cats that scavenge and cats that are around kids have a higher need for treatment, so for two reasons this animal needs flea, tick and worm treatment

I treat all out outdoor cats for worms, ticks and fleas. It is really easy, just buy the tablets and put it in their food, and give them a spoon of food with the tablet in it and then make sure each one gets one tablet each.

Cats can be wormed with panacur when pregnant. There is probably human worming treatment that is safe in pregnancy too.

Why aren’t your parents treating the cat for worms?

Yes they do treat them. Well actually I do it for them. And we have the tablets so will give them to the cats today.
