Booking appointment

I have received a booking appointment for a date on which I would be 12.5 weeks’ pregnant. I thought it was meant to be done by 10 weeks. I’m new to all of this - does it matter if your booking appointment is that late?

My concern would be being able to book the 12 week scan before 14 weeks, which I think is the cut off for the screening they do.

I don't really see why it matters, the timing of the scan is more important do you have that booked? My booking appointments have been too early in my opinion (about 8/9 weeks), the first one the midwife was really pressuring me to make decisions about birth location which was ridiculous especially as I then had a miscarriage at 11 weeks. I think it would be better if they did them after 12 weeks unless you have a preexisting medical condition or something.

It matters because the forms for the scans won't be put in until you are in the system...which happens at the booking appointment. My scan was done at 13+5 and then they had an issue processing the blood sample in the lab, which took me over the 14 week cut off for testing so they weren't able to do it. It was very stressful. I'd definitely push for an earlier booking appointment.

@Pugglywuggly@WhatAMarvelousTunethanks for your replies. Do you mean the screening for certain trisomies? I didn’t know that there was a cut-off for that ☹️

I was booked in for 13 weeks 5 days. It’s changed now & has to be done before 14 weeks. Hope all goes ok!
