Faint lines on One Step tests after IVF, what should I think?

I could do with some advice because I am new to all this.
Short back story is we have been TTC for just over 3 years. I am now 42 and we've been going through IVF and I'm currently on my last embryo so all my hopes are pinned on this working.
I shouldn't test early but I have and I'm seeing really faint lines but not getting any darker. I am using the One Step strips.

My question is, how do people rate these tests? Are these just false positives or could it stay the same colour for a while and then get darker? I've never had a positive before so this is the most I have seen my entire life!

I've ordered a First Response Early test which is arriving tomorrow but I'm currently in a position of not knowing what to think!

I use these tests and other cheap ones. They've always been fine for me but sometimes arent that sensitive. Im on baby 3 and they only ever gave me a line after my missed period. Those lines look good for this stage. The most recent are fully filled in rather than a thin line which is good. Highly rate FRER tests though. Good luck. Let us know how it goes xx

I was told not to test early by my IVF clinic because the hormones can give of a false positive but these do look promising. Wishing you the biggest luck in the world 🍀

I believe they say it when you have the trigger shot as that can give false positives, but I did a stimulated cycle this time so it shouldn't be that as my trigger was over 2 week ago. I'm currently only on 2 x cylogest.
It's all so confusing and these lines aren't helping 😂

I can see progression in those lines. They look positive to me but I understand you want to confirm. Wishing you all the best!

They just don't seem to be getting any darker and I'm comparing mine to lines I see on Insta and Tiktok where they're basically the same as the control line by this stage 🙃
Do they often stay the same level of darkness for a while?
Obviously ChatGPT told me that they should be getting darker then said if this doesn't work I could try naturally 🙄 I won't repeat how I replied 😂

But these are with multiples from each day? For your own peace of mind, separate them out at the very least so that tests from each day are next to each other not from 12 hour intervals. Doubling the increase is sometimes only detectable if you compare the tests two days apart (48hrs). From what I can see, your tests are indeed getting stronger. It’s such a worry at this stage, I’ve had two MCs so no stranger to multiple testing, but try restrict comparisons (even if you still feel the need to poas) to 48 hours.

I didn’t get my first positive till 6dp5dt it was very faint, it would be very unusual to have tests as strong as the control line at this stage, think more 13/14 dp 5dt

Oh god and chat gpt is awwwful at interpreting tests, don’t use it! It would tell me it was a “not pregnant” result and even though I could clearly see a second line it would double down on its error. Use your own eyes, or supportive Mumsnet folks!

@D842AFR heh, I used a sharpie to write on the tests though it doesn’t look very neat as one step are so small! But maybe separate your sheet so you only have am on it and you can always do another for
pm if you keep testing twice a day!

That will be super easy from now on but mainly because I've ran out of cellotape 😂
Thanks for your advice 🩷

hehehe @D842AFR ive resorted to
cut up plasters as sticking material at one point 🫣

very best of luck in the coming days, I’m 40 and this was our 5th round that finally brought us a pregnancy, so I’m particularly rooting for you!!x

As promised, an update.
Because it's taken so long for us to get here, we still can't believe it's true!
First response and then some random Morrisons one I had in the bathroom!

Thankyou! I feel I might be on here A LOT and probably asking a lot of silly questions 😂
At 42 most of my friends have had their babies now (some of my friends are even grandparents!) and I never wanted children with any previous partners...
Crazy how life has a way of turning out when you meet the right person! 🩷🩵

Huge congratulations, I remember testing early for our IVF baby, now 21, so long time ago, we spent a fortune on tests as couldn’t quite believe our 6 years of trying was coming to an end.
