Could my husband's colonoscopy sedation affect this pregnancy?

I just found out I’m pregnant after a miscarriage in January. We are thrilled! It took us 8 months both times to get pregnant: one baby, one loss. I’m also 39. I am a little worried though as when I was ovulating, my husband had a colonoscopy in hospital and would have been under sedation in the morning and on liquid to clear out his bowels the night before. We had sex both nights—approx 12 hours after the procedure. I’m now worried that may affect the baby (genetically or otherwise)? I feel silly that we didn’t consider this at the time but we were just thinking that this was important as I knew I was definitely ovulating.

No it won’t affect your baby at all. See some reassurance from your midwife if you keep feeling anxious.

They would have told you not to have sex if it were an issue.

IIRC sperm has a 90 day maturation period, so it was actually what he was doing three months ago that would be important! Honestly don’t worry about it though.

Thank you all so much for the replies. I think I’m just super anxious having experienced a miscarriage already and I think my brain is just going to all the things I might have done wrong. Thank you for the reassurance!
