Cramping and light bleeding at nearly seven weeks pregnant

I’m currently 6+5 weeks pregnant with my second baby. I’ve had cramping all day. And then this afternoon I have light bleeding but only when I wiped. I’m now sat waiting for an out of our hours gp appointment. Just wondering if anyone had any similar experiences with a positive outcome

I had this with both of mine at around 6 or 7 weeks. It soon passed. I gather it’s pretty common around that time as baby really ‘beds in’

Seconded. At 7 weeks I suddenly had a bleed like a heavy period…my consultant said baby was fine and just likely burrowing in there for a food source.

Said baby is now being watched by me on the baby monitor.

They’ve dipped my urine and it’s come back negative. I had very clear positive on a test this morning. Being sent to the A&E for bloods to confirm if I’m pregnant or not. So confusing and feeling very upset

I have prayed for you and baby, OP. I hope everything is ok

A&E repeated the urine test and came back with a very very faint positive. They’ve taken bloods so now sitting waiting for results. The very light positive after strong positives makes me very nervous. Especially with the bleeding and cramping

Handholding you, OP. Post more if it helps you pass the time

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, it’s such a scary and lonely time. I’ve been there twice. Once I had a good outcome and once it was bad so it can go either way. I truly hope for good news for you sweetie. The waiting is terrible. Very best wishes to you

Ah I'm really sorry to hear you have this worry OP. I hope the hospital will offer you an ultrasound, as that's really the best way to get a definitive answer on this. They may not be able to do this over the weekend though unfortunately.

I had a significant bleed at about 7 weeks with my second child - who's now nearly 20. Scan showed a lovely strong heartbeat. But I know how tough it is waiting for news.

It's also quite common to feel crampy as your uterus starts to stretch.

Keeping everything crossed for you for more positive news soon.

Sending you love OP, I hope everything is okay ❤️

I’m not sure this will make you feel any better or give you any reassurance but it takes a while for a negative test to come through after a loss.
it took me three weeks to get a negative

Lauren0902 · 25/04/2026 23:38

My bleeding and cramping started at the same time in my second pregnancy. It actually happened nearly everyday up until I was 12/13 weeks with a heavier bleed now and again. I was so upset going into my 12 week scan I could barely speak, however my baby was absolutely fine and no reason was ever found. I’m sending you so much hope and love just now

I had this at 7 weeks. I was told to rest for two days. I had twins.

Thank you for all your kind messages. Didn’t get home until 2am. I was told I had a very low hCG of 36 😕 they’re going to retest in 48 hours but not looking very hopeful. The bleeding has also increased so looking like an early miscarriage unfortunately
