Hey I'm just a women who needs to vent as I'm frustrated with the way NHS drs keep declining progresterone for women who have had constant previous miscarriages, I've had 3 back to back recently just before 6 weeks and 5 altogether and when I go to the gp and ask them for progresterone they say they can't until I've had scan at 6 weeks by then it's to late,

I just found out I'm pregnant again and even though I'm having so many symptoms I'm just so scared I'll lose bean, I've tried buying them online and you can't get them nowhere unless perscribed by gp, trying to find if anyone in the UK has any left over cyclogest they could kindly send to me, as I'm just afraid to lose another one,

I’m the same - I’m not sure whether I’m currently having my 6th miscarriage. I went at what would be 6 weeks yesterday but wont give me progesterone as I am PUL and without being able to find the heartbeat in the uterus they wont give it incase the baby grows in an unknown location

This is so sad I don't know why they can't perscribe it as soon as women find out there pregnant it's not fair on us women to keep going through the same thing and nobody helping, I'm so sorry if your going through your 6th one hun massive hugs to you

While I agree progesterone is very beneficial for lots of women it isn’t a miracle cure for miscarriage. They don’t like to prescribe it too early in case the pregnancy is ectopic. I can see the reasoning for that. I can also see the reasoning for wanting it prescribed early. I’ve had multiple miscarriages myself including two IVF pregnancies where I was on progesterone (both suppositories and injection) and still miscarried both of them. The second one was a missed miscarriage that in fact was delayed due to the progesterone. If I hadn’t have been on that it would have ended much sooner I think. Instead it was dragged out for an extra few weeks waiting for it to end naturally. It’s very hard and I think you need to be under a specialist for them to prescribe early unfortunately. That doesn’t help you right now I know.

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I had progesterone with my last pregnancy and my understanding is they don't like to prescribe it before 6 weeks due to the risk of ectopic. They want to rule that out before prescribing. My GP also wont prescribe it and you have to have a miscarriage clinic do it here.

Have you had a referral to your local miscarriage clinic? I found they were very responsive and quick to deal with things when I was under their care for my last pregnancy.
