Positive pregnancy test at 6DPO

Hi all,

I am posting on here to see if anyone has had a similar experience to me.
I received a positive pregnancy yesterday at 6DPO. I had been tracking my ovulation for over 6 months.
My LMP was 02/04/2026 with a cycle of 31 days, I ovulated on the 15th of April.
People keep telling me it’s impossible to have a pregnancy test at 6DPO but I know exactly when I ovulated so I don’t see how it is incorrect!!

Congratulations!! It’s rare but I expect not impossible! I have 3 kid and got my positives around 8dpo so still quite early .

Well, you're pregnant, so that's really all that matters. If you were tracking with LH strips ovulation usually is counted as around 12 hours from the start of the rise rather than the peak, so if you have a slow rise maybe it's that?! But congratulations!

Could you have ovulated 2 days before? I know the egg stays alive for around 12 hours and sperm can live for 7 days so if you had sex a few days before , conception could have happened as soon as you ovulated

High levels of HCG at 6dpo could indicate twins

It is impossible. 6dpo is the absolute earliest the egg will implant and then it takes a couple of days for HCG to rise enough to be detectable on a test. You probably just ovulated a couple of days earlier. Ovulation tracking is not an exact science.

I only had one BD the whole cycle which was the day before on the 14th so it can’t be too much earlier!

My mum is a twin and she has twin brothers so it could be possible I guess!

Thank you! :-) I used the digital ovulation as well as the strips so can’t see how I missed it when I got a clear positive. I’m just trying to figure out dates and due date :-)

From that point of view, I was using ovulation strips so knew when I ovulated. But my 12 week scan put me a week ahead despite me knowing and that was the due date everything was calculated from. So it'll change anyway at that point.

Yeah I get what you’re saying, I need to ride out the wait to get an estimated due date then I’ll know more

Yes, it's not possible, the baby won't even have implanted yet. I'd say you've ovulated earlier (as pregnancy isn't in doubt).

The only alternative explanation is that some fertility treatment can cause a false positive (information is years old, so maybe no longer relevant). I think because it uses HCG and that shows on the test?

If I were getting positives at what I think is 6 dpo I'd be asking for a scan in a month to check dates.

I've had a good positive on a pink test 9-10 dpo, with implantation bleeding about 2-3 days before that.
