Morning sickness - sex of baby

Hey all,

i have a daughter and currently pregnant with my 2nd. I remember feeling pretty nauseous and having food aversions first time but this time feels a lot worse. Going off food left, right and centre. Not thrown up yet but retched multiple times and really struggling to eat and drink as everything’s making me feel sick.

im just curious, did your symptoms vary between sex’s of baby? I think they say more sickness = girl. Was the right for you?

tbh I really hope I’m having a boy lol but I will love my girl just as much

I had hyperemesis lost 10kg during my pregnancy and it was a boy.

Plantlady10 · 19/04/2026 12:11

I had really bad sickness with both mine and they are boys. However my mum had sickness with me but not my brother- I think it is random!

BeMintFatball · 19/04/2026 12:14

I don’t think you can tell. I was fairly sick with my first daughter and less sick with my second daughter. Second daughter I was convinced was a boy as the whole pregnancy felt so different. To the point I really didn’t like my “boy”. Gave birth, told it’s a girl and instant love 🥰.

I have a son and 2 daughter’s and had sickness in all of my pregnancies until about 16 weeks. The sex of the baby didn’t make a difference for me.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Really bad with both - one of each....

Cotswoldmama · 19/04/2026 12:16

I have 2 boys, really bad morning sickness and nausea with the first, loads of food aversions with my second none at all, no sickness nothing!

Hopefulsalmon · 19/04/2026 12:17

Sickness with one, nothing with the the other - both boys

Tillow4ever · 19/04/2026 12:17

I had 3 boys. Pregnancy one - awful sickness, threw up multiple times a day, had no appetite, etc. pregnancy two - very little sickness, but occasionally there. Pregnancy three - absolute no sickness at all.

I don’t think there’s anything in the old wives tale about level of morning sickness and if you’re having a boy or a girl.

Latenightreader · 19/04/2026 12:18

No sickness at all - girl.

Aww thank you so much for the sweet message at the end. I hope so too because I am definitely in the trenches with a toddler I’m trying to take care of too 😃🤍🤍

I’m actually hoping my case is similar to yours where my boy pregnancy is worse than the girls 😅 thank you x
